Joining the OPTAIN Continental Regional Dialogues with the ICPDR Meeting in Sarajevo

We were proud to see the OPTAIN project featured at the 42nd ICPDR Pollution Management Expert Group and 20th Nutrients Task Group Meeting, held from 23–25 April 2025 in Sarajevo.

As part of a dedicated session on Natural/Small Water Retention Measures, OPTAIN partners presented:

•     An introduction to the project’s goals and approach
•     Insights into modelling and optimisation of NSWRMs
•     Experiences from case studies in agricultural catchments from Germany, Slovenia and Hungary
•     How to support implementation of NSWRMS trough policy improvements.

By integrating scientific research with policy dialogue, this session provided insights for further implementation of NSWRMa in the Danube River Basin.

We are very grateful to the ICPDR for providing a platform where research meets policy, and to all participants for the enriching discussions!
